When a human handles this customer, they reconstruct the context through memory and conversation. When an AI handles this customer, it has no way to reconstruct anything. It sees the current state of the record. It does not see the reasoning that produced that state.
Most AI projects fail at this layer. The agent has access to data but no access to context. It can retrieve documents but cannot understand how they relate to each other or to the current situation. It answers questions about what exists but cannot reason about why things are the way they are.
Layer Three: Organizational Physics
This is the layer almost no one addresses.

It applies the stated policy and creates problems because the stated policy is not the actual policy. Integration at this layer means encoding organizational physics into something the AI can query and reason about. Decision traces. Exception histories. Approval patterns. The accumulated precedent that tells you how similar situations were actually handled.
Almost no enterprise has this. Which is why almost every enterprise AI project fails.

The Architecture Problem Behind the Integration Problem
The reason integration is so hard is that your data architecture was designed for a different purpose.
Systems of record were built to store current state. What is the opportunity worth right now? Who is assigned to this ticket today? What is the current contract term? They were not built to capture reasoning. Why did the opportunity value change? What investigation led to this ticket assignment? What negotiation produced these contract terms?
This worked when humans were the reasoning layer. Humans carried the context. Humans remembered the history. Humans reconstructed the story when needed.
Now you want AI to be the reasoning layer, but you have given it nothing to reason from. You have given it access to state without access to the events that produced that state. You have given it data without context. You have given it the conclusion without the argument.
This is not a problem you can solve by adding more connectors. It is not a problem you can solve by fine-tuning your embeddings. It is not a problem you can solve by upgrading your vector database.
It is an architecture problem. Your data infrastructure captures the wrong things. It was designed for humans and you are trying to use it for AI.
